Questions to Ask Your Ceremony Venue...

  * How long will the ceremony take?
  * Can we add or use our own music and/or words?
  * Can we video and/or take photos of the ceremony?
  * Who will conduct the ceremony?
  * Can we meet them beforehand to discuss how things will run and what will happen?
  * Will the venue be available for a practice?
  * Can the guests throw confetti?

Readings, Blessings & Poems

Readings are a great way of involving friends or family who aren't part of the main wedding party, but do think carefully abour choosing readers, for your sake and theirs! Poems work well at civil ceremonies or consider song lyrics as an alternative to poetry. A large selection of reading material for readings, blessings and poems for both civil and church wedding ceremonies is available from Amazon UK.

Choice of Music...

Live music or recorded music? The default option for a church wedding is the organ but there are plenty of other possibilities such as string quartet, classical guitar or saxophonist. Think about the size of the venue that the music needs to fill and is there suitable amplification. A church may be able to provide the services of the regular choir, but try to hear them live before you book them!

If you need to sign the register, a short piece of music can fill the silence. Recorded music is of course the cheapest and various wedding CDs are available to buy online. A large selection of wedding music CDs for both civil and church wedding ceremonies is available from Amazon UK.
