Once you’ve decided upon a venue you can get down to the details of your wedding reception, how you want it to look, what you will eat and drink and how you will be entertained. Start with a ‘Wish List’ of what you want to do and achieve and agree a plan of action. The following is the ‘traditional’ format for the day. Receiving Line - Where, when and who will be in the line-up. Traditional Receiving Line: Bride’s Mother, Bride’s Father, Groom’s Mother, Groom’s Father, Bride, Groom, Chief Bridesmaid (if Family), Best Man (if Family)
Toastmaster - Professional or amateur? You could ask a friend, an usher, or the best man to act as Master of Ceremonies.
Wedding Breakfast - Formal or informal, canapé reception, buffet or silver-service meal.
Speeches - When, who and how long.
Cake Cutting & Eating - When.
First Dance & Entertainment - When, where and stop time.
Tossing the Bouquet - Details and time.
Bride & Groom’s Departure - When and how.
Carriages - Official stop time.
